Dr. Diane Chen -- Chairman
Dr. Diane Chen, founder of Consumer Education Services Inc., brings the CESI Board more than 30 years of experience in business and education. She founded CESI in 1998, and served as CEO until stepping down in 2017.
Following her departure from CESI, Dr. Chen created a nonprofit focused on consumer behavior research, The Institute of Consumer Money Management (ICMM). She currently serves as the Executive Director.
Dr. Chen earned both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Adult Education from North Carolina State University.
Bob Fitzgerald
Bob Fitzgerald serves the CESI Board, with a background of more than 30 years of health care policy experience in North Carolina state government. He has worked in the Office of State Planning and the Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services. He also served 28 years in the Division of Health Service Regulation, retiring as its Director.
Mr. Fitzgerald has been involved in legislation affecting all aspects of health care regulation with members of the General Assembly, health care providers, payers, lobbyists and other state agencies.
Mr. Fitzgerald holds an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Minnesota as well as a B.A. in Government from the University of South Dakota.
Charles Wayne Stallings
Charles Wayne Stallings serves as a member of the CESI Board of Directors, utilizing his extensive background in public sector financial management from a career spanning more than thirty-five years. From 1991 to 2003, he was the Chief Financial Officer for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT). In that role, he supervised accounting and financial reporting, budget development and execution, the audit of engineering contractors and grantees, purchasing, financial systems, and construction bid monitoring. He made regular appearances before NC state legislative committees to explain NCDOT budget proposal and conditions.
As a volunteer, Mr. Stallings has served as Treasurer for numerous non-profit organizations. In these roles, he provided advisory counsel to the Boards of Directors of those organizations on their financial conditions and opportunities.
Mr. Stallings received his Bachelor of Arts degree from NC State University and his Master of Public Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Alexis Nelson
Alexis Nelson serves as a member of the CESI Board of Directors, bringing her broad background in Accounting/Finance. She served for ten years in the banking industry with Bank of New York Mellon and PNC where she worked in Finance, Training and Development and Operations. In 2015, she joined the Cisco System Team in Raleigh, North Carolina with a focus on financial reporting.
Ms. Nelson has worked extensively in the non-profit arena, including as President and Founder of The Boyd Nelson Foundation located in McKeesport, PA. This small non-profit organization provides education and preparation for youth prior to entering their collegiate experience.
Ms. Nelson graduated from Robert Morris University with a Bachelor’s in Finance and went on to obtain her Master’s in Business Administration focusing on Innovative Management and an MS in Professional Leadership concentrating in Training and Development.
Naveed Iftikhar
Naveed Iftikhar serves as a member of the CESI Board of Directors, bringing his expertise as a successful entrepreneur and business adviser. He has a professional background in the technology and IT world, where he has been a founding member of a number of successful start-ups.
Mr. Iftikhar has served in management positions in finance, business strategy, and information technology at companies including IKON Technology Services, IBM, and Control Data Systems.
Mr. Iftikhar obtained his undergraduate degree in Engineering from Princeton University and a Master’s in Management from Yale University’s School of Management.
